Bearbrick is a collectible toy produced and designed by MediCom Toy Incorporated. It gets its name from its overall design, which is a cartoon-style bear, as well as the fact that it is a variation of MediCom’s Kubrick design. The design itself is very simple, with nine points of articulation: the torso, head, arms, hands, hips, and legs. The head and waist can swivel, and the arms and legs can rotate on a ball joint.

The first Be@rbrick toy was released on May 27th, 2001 and was a free gift to visitors of the World Character Convention 12. Since the release date, Bearbricks have been released in several different sizes and materials, to include felt, wood, and glow-in-the-dark plastic. Standard Be@rbrick size is 100%, or 7 centimeters. Others are named according to their size in comparison to the 100%; 50% toys are 4 centimeters, 70% are 5 centimeters, 400% are 28 centimeters, and 1000% are 70 centimeters tall.
